The Soul of Armenia
Between Land of Stones and Azure Sky
Armenia, or Haïastan, is a land of contrasts. Nicknamed Karastan (the land of stones) Since antiquity, this volcanic nation at the crossroads of East and West has forged its identity through resilience. Despite the trials of history and a turbulent geography, the Armenian people shine with their poetry, humor, and legendary hospitality.
The first Christian state in the world (converted as early as the 4th century under the impetus of Saint Grigor), Armenia has been able to transform its raw stone into basalt lacework: its thousand-year-old churches and funerary stelae (Khatchkars) bear witness to a unique artistic richness.
A Dance Between Savage Force and Infinite Grace
The show presented by the ensemble Bert is an immersion in Armenian popular culture, driven by two complementary energies:
- The Fervor of Men: Warriors and martial in their bandolier costumes, the dancers defy the laws of gravity. Between acrobatic jumps, impressive falls onto their knees and human pyramids, their footwork imitates the gallop of a horse while their arms spread out with the wingspan of an eagle.
- The Nobility of Women: In contrast to this impetuousness, the dancers seem to glide on the water. Dressed in embroidered silks, they offer a dance of elegant modesty. Each movement of their hands has a precise meaning, evoking in turn the suppleness of wheat in the wind or the serenity of frozen lakes in the high mountains.
An Unforgettable Sensory Journey
The ballet orchestra brings ancestral instruments back to life. The powerful and melancholic sound of the wind instruments, sometimes reminiscent of bombardes, blends with the rhythm of the percussion to carry this meticulously precise choreography.
Bert (The Fortress) is not just a dance group: it is the ambassador of a patriotic faith and a globally recognized heritage.
